Use a Newsletter to Communicate – put out a monthly newsletter with information of interest to your associates. Include letters, reports of outstanding sales, news or insiders’ information relating to your product line, personal profiles of some of your associates (everyone loves to read about himself or herself), and anything else you deem appropriate. With the emergence of the Web this has become very easy to do. Avoid Favoritism – Avoid any action that smacks of favoritism. Treat all associates alike, according to the rules you yourself establish. Insist that all your employees follow the same rules, with yourself or someone you totally trust as the arbiter. However, be careful about promising too much, especially when “helping out.” It may involve flying to an associate’s city and staying for a few days.
